Depuis que John Cena a débuté sa carrière d'acteur au dépend de sa carrière de catcheur, la question se pose tous les ans de savoir si le 16 fois champion du monde sera présent lors du Grandest Stage of them All.
Alors que certaines rumeurs disaient que Cena était booké pour WrestleMania, il a lui-même répondu à la question cette année lors d'une interview donnée à Sport Illustrated et la réponse est : NON.
Cena a affirmé qu'était donné qu'il tourne la série de HBO The Peacemaker à Vancouver jusqu'en juillet, son agenda et les exigences et restrictions sanitaires (isolement, etc.) font qu'il est "mathématiquement impossible" qu'il soit à WrestleMania cette année.
“It’s very difficult to say because I know it’s going to be disappointing for a lot of people… there is no mathematical way I can be at WrestleMania this year.”
“Currently, I’m in Vancouver shooting Peacemaker, the series for HBO Max. Given the quarantine regulations, if I were to leave Canada, upon return I would have to quarantine for another two weeks. Essentially, that would shut production down. Strictly based on the letter of the law right now, there is no logistical way I can be there. We film now until July.”
